Brazil shares dive 4.2 pct on renewed Asia fears

SAO PAULO, Dec 11 (Reuters) - Brazilian stocks extended losses, falling 4.2 percent in early trade Thursday, pressured by new steep declines in Asian stock markets and an expected weak start on Wall Street, brokers said.

Brazil privatizations to total $72.8 bln '97-'99

BRASILIA, Dec 11 (Reuters) - Planning Minister Antonio Kandir said Brazil would raise $72.8 billion in privatizations from 1997 to 1999, with the bulk of that amount coming next year.

Brazil plans CVRD, Light shr sale abroad next year

BRASILIA, Dec 11 (Reuters) - Brazilian Planning Minister Antonio Kandir said Thursday the government plans ''in a relatively short term'' to sell shares abroad in mining giant Cia Vale do Rio Doce (CVRD) (VAL_p.SA) and power distributor Light (LIG.SA).
