Glen,

The pace of posts on this thread is making it look more like one of those high-tech love-fests. Let's just hope that ABTX stock price behaves better than the techs have.

Franklin, you are certainly welcome to do as you wish(and you do not need me to tell you that), and I will be the first to say that you(though lucky) called the high of 14 1/2...today. I think our exception was with you saying we'd rue the day or singing the blues. My post addressed that. Even a pullback to 12 is still great profits. Besides we know that if we were to pull back, the days ahead are much better and brighter. I guess you called it correct on both counts-the 14 1/2 and the flack that you would receive. Don't take it personal. Brother and sisters push each other around now and then, when there is noone outside the house to push around.

I remember well the days before and after the conference in June(or was it July), but keep in mind, we are much bigger, and much more attractive. The same will be said this summer and then next winter, and so on. I would have to say the the "big boys" really are just getting a wiff of this rose. After all, only 2.8% of the stock is held by institutions whereas DKB has almost 50% institutional holdings. We have a ways to go for big boys to get completely involved. I'll guess that CS First Boston begins coverage in the Spring 1999.

TM Glen, the article I wrote about(that the Winston-Salem Journal printed) indicated that seeds producing grass that only had to be cut once a month or every three months would be a wonderful product. Imagine the sales of reseeding all the lawns in America with that, and then perhaps one that needs less watering-more drought resistant. Possibilities are endless. I was merely indicating that the Acquisition Program is their main draw RIGHT NOW. I will be looking to see what seeds will be engineered going forward.

A word about engineered anything. I have worked in biotech labs in my younger days creating from what was into something that might be. I was working with the animal kingdom. The plant kingdom has yet to be significantly developed, especially the MORE GLAMOROUS turf seed sector. By the way, ANETTE, it was the turf seeds that I was referring to when I stated the glamorous comment. Grass seed for golf courses is more glamorous than selling corn seed to farmers, relatively speaking-but don't tell the farmers that. (ASIDE:Thank god every day for farmers, or we'd starve.) At UNC, I cannot totally comment on the programs involving plants, but there were some, albeit much less funded than those involving animals. Going forward, and you'll see a news release speaking a little on it in DKB's list of most recent news releases, the plant kingdom will see great biological, genetic change. There is alot we know about them, and there will be alot we will be able to change for better products. The improved quality will allow ABTX and others to sell at higher prices, and with greater profits. AND, I would say that in the turf grass sector, there will be less resistance to genetically altered seeds than in, say alfalfa, which many people may fret about because(run on sentence) the cow will eat it. Some will think(like they do now) that this will cause "funky" milk for example. Less concern in the grass seed for lawns and golf courses.

Archie, I appreciate your delicate posts. Somehow I can see your 6'7" butt holding a little girl. Must have many pictures of that. I am a mere 6'5", but 240, and looking forward to children, and all the ups and downs that go with them.
