The Iranians didn't respect Carter. Nobody respected him. There are few who are gullible enough to claim they respect him even today.

You can continue to blame all that is wrong on Republicans and claim all the economic benefits of Republican pro growth policies is to be attributed to Democrats. You will find some who agree with you. You will find more who see the illogic of the arguments. One thing is certain: without a Republican controlled Congress Clinton would have squashed the Bush recovery from the democrat minimum wage hike under President GHW Bush. Even the Republican Congress couldn't keep him from turning the Bush recovery he inherited into the Clinton recession he left for President GW Bush to start with.

"the world was drowning in debt?"

It certainly is drowning in Obama debt. President GW Bush looked bad compared to his predecessors until Obama made him look like a fiscal conservative in comparison.

The bottom line is that until you realize that a growing central government is the problem you will continue to resemble Ronald Reagan in the first half of the sixties. Just as he did you will argue that democrat policies are bad, but support democrats.
