your're better off than me - you own the stock while i have several jan 98 call options that could expire worthless. I also own 400 shares bought @75 and have been writing covered calls.

if u are concerned write a apr 98 covered call strike price 75 on a upday, you'll get 5 or 6 bucks. If CPQ stays above 75 in apr (hopefully it should), u will lose the stock at 75 but would have made the 5 dollar profits via the call premium. given the volatility u may be able to sell and buy back the covered calls about half-a-dozen times between now and april and make good money.

Aussieman-- Also under water with compaq, but not as far as you. I doubt this is the mother of corrections. Compaq is selling well here in US. Economy is excellent. Earnings ratio of 17 for '98 CPQ earnings, at price of 60.

Asia problems should easily be made up by European growth. Should make estimates easily which will pull up price. If you can hold on for 5-6 weeks you stand a better chance of breaking even, if that is all you want. I'm in for the very long run.

I got a bunch of new stuff from PWebber that I'll post later.

......don't know--if i did i would be rich and i'm not

......but it may make sense to sell when market has rebounded somewhat--most people think january will report a good Q--if cpq and dell have a good xmas you will be sorry you sold now--if it is a bad xma you will be happy--take your choice.
