If you get another chance, use it to buy rental property or something. Well part of it went to the down payment on my house. That is an asset. Borrowed money can be used to buy an asset, the point is the borrowing itself does not create an asset. And the feds didn't create an asset with the money. "Reagan was wrong"? Everyone is wrong sometimes. That wasn't the only thing he was wrong about. Wrong on that, and on other things, he was still the best president of my lifetime.
