That when combined with the other similar stories (including dozens of applicants for each job at a new Walmart) would seem to argue strongly against the theory that a minimum wage increase would benefit the country because it would prevent monopsony buyers of low end labor from paying so little that there are shortages for such labor.

That is at least for the areas where such reports come from, but they are from a number of diverse locations.

There are shortages in a few places, but in those places low end labor is getting paid more, often much more than the minimum wage, so they don't support the theory either.
