How will this look under the new (O'Care) rules of the game? The way I understand it, coverage will be far more standardized.
I am not an expert in the details of Ocare, just an IT guy who works a lot in healthcare. Most of my healthcare work has been in MA, so it is not so different.
One of the favorite tricks is tweaking the pharmacy formularies. Move a few popular drugs like Lipitor to a higher copay category and drop the monthly premium a few bucks. Actuarily equivalent. The only real extra cost for insurers of small plans is the administrative costs are spread over fewer members. Most sales to small businesses go through brokers, so the insurance co only deals directly with the big clients.
