While the CostCo argument gets very tiring, the most problematic aspect of it is that it is totally ATYPICAL. Most businesses simply don't operate that way, so it does not suggest a model or way of doing business. That a single business, or a few, can get away with it (because of other eccentricities in the business model) does not imply that another business across town can.

What CostCo does simply does not reflect the behavior of business at large.
