It is a given and truism, we vote for people who are our porxy's for writing and voting on the laws. We vote for people to represent us. It is called Democracy and has worked pretty well compared to all the other systems ever tried. The real problem are the people who vote for scumbags like Strom Thurmond and Jesse Helms, Ted Cruz and Darrel Issa. It is people voting for the wrong people that is the problem. No the politicians. I vote for people who write smart, just laws.
