Government has destroyed the university system in this country. OTOH, it needed to be destroyed, just as the music business, movie business, book business, and others needed to be destroyed. It is time for the university system, as we've known it, to die. For a fraction of the money I've spent my kids could have had excellent educations online. If they wanted them. For those relatively few occasions when classrooms are actually required, accommodations can be made without the massive expenditures (my son took one graduate level physics course and one senior level engineering course last semester, and books were $400. That's ridiculous for a kid trying to get through school, and it is all profit used to fund a fat, bloated university). Thank God my daughter was able to pay for her own PhD.
