Jumping in here...

>>One question: Are writable CD-ROMS anywhere in the future as an alternative to hard drives/Zip drives? And if so, is NMBS going to produce these?<<

Writable CD-ROMS are here. I have several friends who swear by them, and they all also use Zip or Jazz. These guys are early adopters. <g> And no, I don't believe NMBS will produce these.

As to DVD's impact on NMBS' profit picture and stock price, I still think we're a year away before the stock price begins to reflect the additional revenue stream. So in the meantime I see more of the same, CD-ROM margins getting smaller and smaller, a bit of an earnings hit next year when they purchase the new equipment for the Luxemborg plant, and DVD starting to approach the 10% threshold of total sales. When you've got 2 thousand titles out there, and Dyvx cleared up as to it's impact on DVD, that's when we'll see something happen and the stock begins to reflect future value. Of course, the squeezing CDROM margins should help to heighten the effect DVD will have on NMBS's bottom line.

In the meantime, I try not to watch the tape.
