"Are you claiming that the phrase "States Rights" is a "dog whistle"? "

"States Rights" makes conservatives think of the civil war, when the southern states lost their "right" to own negro slaves. Thus, a CLEAR "dog whistle".

Can't just yell N*gger, like racists did in 1954. Just doesn't sell today. Of course, today, the dog whistles are used on Arabs, the poor, Hispanics and lots of other groups hated by white conservatives, not just blacks.

The Republican party is the party that hates all non-whites and the poor. A demographically doomed position.
