Hong Kong down almost 600 points. Somehow, this too will drive the Dow up in the A.M.

Pancho, I tend to agree with you although this market has acted so irrationally lately that any prediction is worth its weight in air. Having said that, I do sense a change in sentiment since Monday and that all of this artificial propping will soon come to end. If the big boys insist on inflating numbers for year-end, then the move down will be even more violent IMO. Yesterday's close was particularly inane and tends to point to this playing around with the numbers. The small investor is getting out, forcing the bigger guys to follow even though they would rather wait till January as Roger pointed out. I guess they cannot ignore economic reality day after day.
BTW we are two brothers (Hi, McNabbs!) and my name is Joe.
