Brian: Reuter also reports that Sim's CREAF will meet current quarter earning
expectations. First Call said that CREAF will make 77 cents. It means at least another $72 millions in CREAF's coffin again. Analyst from ML's forecast of 14 cents reduction in 98 is therefore referring to Marh and June 98 quarters, definitely not the current quarter. Please anyone confirm it.

Here is the report

SINGAPORE, Dec 10 (Reuters) - Sound card-maker Creative
Technology Ltd said on Wednesday that Asia's economic
crisis would hit the company's revenue growth in its 1997/8
financial year ending June 30.
"Because the currency crisis affects everybody, our upside
is gone. If we can achieve the lower part of the range it's a
spectacular job," said company chairman Sim Wong Hoo of the 10
to 15 percent revenue growth target Creative had set for itself.
Sim told a news conference the crisis had affected some of
Creative's biggest markets in Japan, South Korea and Brazil.
But he said the company's earnings for the current quarter
ending December 31 would be within market expectations.
"What we are trying to do is to focus on profitability
again. It's better to defend the bottom line than the top line,"
he said.
Sim said the company was trying to push more in growth areas
like India and Russia.
Over the next six months, growth would come from new
products in the areas of PCDVD, graphics and speakers, he said.
