Yeah, just jabbering while waiting for something exciting to happen.

It seems to be happening.

Given the usual "Christmas Cheer" rally, looks like Santa's selling short.

This would seem very ominous (for bulls) for January--if you go into a new year on a down note.

I know that precious metals is a secondary interest on the thread, but there's been quite a take-off in silver; will post a link that gives continous 24-hour round-the-clock quotes (in dollars) on precious metals. A long in Pan American Silver (PAASF) should appreciate $5 for every dollar gained by silver. The golds may be bouncing towards a bottom, too. The rise might not be as dramatic as in the 1970s and 1980s, but if I were a Korean whose currency was going down 10% a day and whose stock market was also tanking, I think I'd start putting any wage savings I got into gold (if it's legal to do so)--as an example.

Yesterday (per message to Bonnie) I set up a paper portfolio to track the shorts in the Prudent Bear Fund (BEARX). To judge from their posted NAV at end of trading, my portfolio tracks about 65% of the value of the fund but at least gives some idea where it's going during the day. Of everything I have tried so far to play the short side of the market, this remains much the most satisfactory.
