I have one, but it's been modified from the original by cutting down the fore end. I used to think the Springfield was the ugliest gun ever, but when I tried it I realized how smooth the action was. Smoother than any of my other bolt actions.

Get the ammo 1st. I've not seen it in years. there may be a military surplus availability. if you can feed it....it's a fairly strong action. and the wood......sucks. when I was a kid we called them "war clubs" since getting smacked the 20 lbs of timber was as bad as getting shot.....or so we joked.
