You sure covered a lot of ground with that response. So what you're telling is that Microsoft NT should become the predominant networking platform and that Java should be "bastardize" to solely run on MSFT platforms?? Sun was the one that allowed their code to be changed in their licensing agreement, Microsoft saw a way to make it faster, just look at the scores again. In essence, your support of MSFT policy towards Java would indicate this since it is not cross-platform capable. And this was the purpose for Java in the first place. Who has the faster JAVA friend? So you want me to write my software for the slower guy when my customers are demanding more speed just to hurt Microsoft, are you crazy? I could not compete with that kind of attitude, tell you what, if Microsoft is so evil, let me ask a favor of you, if any MS products is used at your house, BURN IT, by your kids, PUNISH them, by your friends, QUIT talking to them, and by your employer, threaten to quit , put your money where your mouth is, I thought so. The market will decide ALWAYS even microsoft cannot control 250million buying cosnumers if the consumers DO NOT WANT IT, THEY WILL NOT BUY IT. The consumers wanted all those bloated features and space sucking apps, Billy gave them what they wanted.Unix is a well-established and mature O/S and handles issues of scalability far more readily that NT. True and beta was superior to VHS, but you do not understand market forces. IT managers need software with a huge force behind it and a megalith of professionals to support it, Novell understood this to a point, but it was Microsoft that capitalized on the idea. Support with an inferior product will beat out a superior product with no support every single time. Besides, show me a UNIX system that can do what NT can do on a $2000 pc for under $5000, thought so. You really do not have a clue do you? As for cheap labor resources, I guess that Gates will be paying the prevailing US wage to all of those software "hackers" he is hiring in India?? Better he is hiring them and America profits from their labor than India hires them and they do, how many AMERICANS is India hiring these days? And MSFT doesn't just gobble up competitive technologies, it seeks to eliminate them as a force for competition. MSFT code writers are apparently some of the sloppiest in the industry according to many of my computer literate associates. Just look at the size of the Win95 operating system vs APPL's. Application sizes are ofter 2-3 times larger, thus absorbing more of your hard-drive resources. IBM was where you got paid by the line of code friend, Billy boy tried to educate them on this issue with OS/2. The public wanted those BLOATED features, they got them and paid for them. You would have me believe billy boy pushed a button and magically made everyone go buy his software with no FREE choice. As for SUNW lying, I think you may be correct. They finagled their hardware to meet the test standards. No Need to think, it is a FACT, with a web page to back it up.However, I also believe that the difference in performance was not extreme. And SUNW Java runs on everything, including MSFT platforms. middle 3000 and middle 200 is not that EXTREME of a DIFFERENCE, can you READ? And the pentium II system is CHEAPER than the SUN workstation, but you have time and money to waste don't you, most businesses don't. And then you have all of those licensees (116+) who have no desire to be forced to rely on bloated MSFT code. Unless it is faster as is the case with JAVA. But you would have me believe a customer would want something slower just to help the underdog, you have no clue, how many fortune 100 companies have you worked for?
