yeah... i thought we had learned our lesson from Vietnam about trying to change cultures and creating democracies with ground troops and dropping bombs on people

it was to be expected, after 9/11, that we would go into Afghanistan and try to root out bin Laden... which was actually a pretty successful operation going on with a small number of special force ops... they were hot on the trail of bin Laden when they got the orders to cease operations and head to Iraq... seems the NeoCONS prefered to let bin Laden get away in order to keep their boogeyman alive

Saddam Hussein was a evil brutal bastard... but would the people of Iraq as a whole be better off without the US invasion?... probably... or should i say, most assuredly

Don't forget the Dulles brothers got us entangled in Vietnam before the end of Ike's presidency. When Kennedy took over he found out we were already seriously committed. It went downhill from there, but LBJ still gets no free pass for the Gulf of Tonkin lies which resulted in full blown escalation.

<<Until he didn't, and left, horrified with what he had done.>>

LBJ said: "the kids were right, I blew it".

It broke him.
