I wonder if "not quite" means that Gates wasn't there. Sure hope he wasn't. Turner reportedly said, "'We're smart enough as an industry to not let one maker of hardware or software control this industry, whether its Bill Gates, (Oracle Chairman) Larry Ellison, or whoever,' said Turner. 'If you have a monopoly, you get fat and lazy and you
overcharge.'" The statement contradicts itself. Why would they not let one maker control if it means the one maker becomes fat and lazy?
So far they haven't been very smart and they have been fat and lazy. Now, here's a computer nerd who's got 'em all shaking in their boots.
The MSFT ATHM axis is going to clean them up with MSFT and ATHM going out of their ways to ignore each other. I love it.
