Here is the answer to your question:

I am a compulsive daytrader/gambler, but I never
visit casinos, since the games offered there are,
mathematically speaking, not fair. I.e., the longer
you play the greater the probability you will lose
everything.

With stocks, it could be different, if they were
traded in auction style, like they are on nyse.
However, nasdaq stocks are so manipulated by mm's
(like yhoo), that the game is not fair either.

>>>Do many of you gamble on sports or visit casinos <<<

Well, I've quit them all. The ponies as well. The bookies in the sports book takes to big a % to make a profit. Casinos are rigged so you have to lose. Why bet a dollar if all you can get back is 96%? The racetrack would be acceptable, but the gov't got greedy. They take 25% of every dollar out of the purse. Then the track has a cut. It adds up to an insurmountable handicap. The horse track is most comparable to the stock market. You bet on past performance, the quality of the thoroughbred, and other known quantities. Betting on a stock is not just a turn of the cards or a roll of the dice. And the % the brokers take is so small as to be meaningless (well, almost).

*****OT*****

I used to visit the track, casinos, lottery etc.. until I started focusing on the market a few years ago. Now I have absolutely NO desire whatsoever to waste even a penny on any of those mediums. Its still an addiction I think but its replaced all the others in my case... Alls I know is that my net worth has soared since I quit the other mediums and put the money to work in the market!! I wish you luck.
