Yes, True Detective is only 8 episodes long and then it returns next year with a new cast and a new story.

I saw a few movies lately. It's been so damn crappy here there's been nothing else to do.

The Dallas Buyers Club was very good. Matthew McConaughey was excellent but the film left Jennifer Garner's character kind of dangling in no man's land. Not really sure what her deal was in the movie except to give a nice big hug at the end. Maybe I missed something.

I know I missed something in the movie Her. Why? Because I dozed off in the middle. Joaquin Phoenix falls in love with his phone's new operating system - like who hasn't? Scarlett Johansson's voice is amazing, almost mesmerizing as the OS, much nicer than SIRI's, and kept me distracted from Phoenix's distracting porn star mustache. If Johansson would talk to me through my phone like she did in this movie I'd probably never leave the house. In short a futuristic and at times tedious chick-flick love story.

American Hustle was fun. All the actors were excellent. I'm a Jeremy Renner fan and he was good, but the best part was watching Christian Bale comb his hair. The whole theater was cracking up, it was that good.
