we did find against the world in the 50s and 60s when they taught the times tables, then the union got in and everything went down hill because the union teachers are so bad and can't be fired. In MD over 50% of 8th grade math teachers flunked the 4th grade math final.

but what the hell they vote for democrats and their union money go to democrats so fukk the kids right ?

Hi J_F_Shepard Re that story about the "young college student was working hard in an upper-level math course". I looked it up. Actually it was a PhD candidate and it took him about a week to do the problems, he'd assumed they'd been assigned as homework. By the time he got them done, they were late and he asked for permission to turn them in late.

The problems were in statistics and were not important ones. Few mathematicians cared much about them. Certainly Einstein never worked on them, LOL.
