Hi Robert,

I understand 80% of Herpes infections are Class 1 ( Cold sores )
..........20 % Genital Herpes.......a real nuisance disease

Any Rapid Response tests out there ?

Did you also see the article in the WSJ on Thursday Dec 11th.
The article was about how scientists had deciphered the genetic blueprint of the microbe that causes Lyme disease. Mentioned in the article was the fact that ground breaking techniques were used, that greatly sped up the decoding of the organism's genetic code. The article mentioned that in the last two years they had completed the genetic sequence of five infectious agents including Heliobacter pylori.
What got my attention was "Scientists note that previously only two other infectious microbes had been sequenced,each requiring about 5 to 10 years of research. Using its new techniques,TIGR expects to sequence six microbes next year and double that number the year after." And later "By the end of the decade we hope to have {uncovered) the genomes for 50 infectious agents."

I know that I am probably the most biotech dis-advantaged on this thread. But my reading of this is that the future looks very bright for the likes of Quidel. No wonder the members of this thread appear to be long term holders of Quidel.
