Hugh, many thanks for the warning, I appreciate it, I'm very familiar with all the agave studies and research, but the amount of fructose in agave is irrelevant and a mute point, the fructose level itself is a meaningless variable in the molecular structure of agave itself... let me be blunt and to the point, dog shit has no fructose in it, but it doesn't make it healthier for you... therefore, the fructose level itself is not necessarily the important variable...

Respectfully, let me explain why...

Agave itself, regardless of the fructose content, is lower down on the glycemic index (lower on the glycemic index than an apple) because the human body metabolizes the agave fructose so slowly that it doesn't spike your blood sugar... my personal family doctor is very happy with my use of agave and I lost 80 pounds using it, my diabetes is completely cured, no more meds, none, my cholesterol is a low 156, I look and feel great, at least 20 years younger...

All the pseudo intellectual research is hype and probably promoted by the sugar industry or the Splenda manufacturers, or maybe possibly the pharmaceutical companies who don't want you to stop taking their drugs...

These "warnings" about agave have been around for years, but they don't stand up to real life and real time application...

I find the agave research analogous to any work of Shakespeare's... you can analyze the ink he used and the paper he used to write his plays, and in the end you can conclude there is nothing in his ink or paper to warrant that his work is any more worthy than anything anyone else would write using the exact same ink and paper... but, all one has to do is read the words he wrote and the depth of his literary genius quickly becomes very obvious... the same with the agave studies... researchers can take apart the atomic structure of the substance and determine it has a higher fructose content, therefore it's more dangerous to consume, but in reality it has a very different effect on the human body when used in real life...

A far better study would be to have three groups of people, one using no sugar at all, one using only sugar, and one using only agave... before you begin the study, test each group for their blood sugar levels as a starting base... then, after a 6 month period, test their blood sugar levels again... you will find that the group using agave has a significantly lower blood sugar level from their starting date, this is despite the fructose level in the agave itself... this would be a much more intelligent and definitive study than to attack a substance without real life and real time human testing...
