vote early, and vote often

Doesn't that defeat the purpose? It should be one vote per member.

This is a wonderful idea for those who are banned on a thread that they accidentally posted on by a moderator who "blanket bans" anyone who they know disagrees with them politically -- the one ban I have is such a case.... I was banned for who I am not what I said on the message board.

Here is a poll so you can anonymously vote: Remember, vote early, and vote often
I think there's a problem here. You have defaulted a 'yes' vote. It's easy for someone to accidently vote 'yes'.

In my opinion, it's a terrible idea!

Sounds like a fantastic idea. I mean, what could possibly go wrong?

Did you post this on any other boards?
EDIT
I see it's on 4 boards.

It's not reasonable to use a poll on this one thread to guide a policy that affects all threads with any bans. If it is on other threads, I didn't know we could set a poll on all threads, and get the results by thread, by Group (STOCKTALK, MARKETS, POLITICS, PASTIMES), and aggregated.

I would like to see the results but not vote, and you didn't give a choice to skip it and see the results.

I think other changes are fair, including not allowing anyone (including you or any Admin) to edit a post after the 15-minute window, unless the request to edit and confirmation are posted to the thread.

If you were to proceed with your idea, every moderator would have to prepare a list for each thread of each person banned, and later reinstate some or all, but the reason and time now attached to the ban would be gone. I'm against the idea until there is time for the community to think about it and give feedback.

If we sent a link, in a popup, to each moderator of a thread with any bans, that goes to a list of each ban, showing the last post date (on SI) by each person banned (to give context), the moderator could decide by 1/28 or whatever other deadline you set, to remove bans one by one but keep the ones he wants keeping the historical reason and date for each one he keeps.

The process could be simple with checkboxes to "opt in" to continue a ban.

Your version "cleans up" but destroys data.

The idea needs more feedback.
