teevee you apparently misread my Nobel-winning dissertation. My claim isn't that there is solar system or galactic correlation with glaciations and climate in general. Mine was specifically the mechanism of hydrocarbon subduction, density separation and volcanic powering determined by tidal maxima. Here is what they wrote - nothing to do with my claims.

<A partly speculative galactic model has been derived from present general knowledge of the Milky Way galaxy. This simple model is shown to be approximately 80 percent valid in terms of Newtonian gravitational theory. A model applying Newtonian gravitation more strictly would be more complex. According to the model, the solar system experiences a periodically and episodically varying galactic parameter during its orbits as far back as 3,000 m.y. Minima of the varying galactic parameter correlate with Phanerozoic and Precambrian glaciations well. The reason for these apparent correlations is not known, but they suggest the possibility of a causal relation.This study enhances, within limits, the possibility of valid intercontinental Precambrian time-stratigraphic correlations on the basis of glaciogene deposits. The model appears to point toward multilateral causes of periodic ice ages in which the various causes may be assigned an approximate degree of importance. The contributing causes include major ice-age hypotheses so far proposed, plus the supposed galactic variable as the trigger mechanism. During the Phanerozoic, the variation of the galactic parameter appears to agree with other paleoclimatic criteria, which are not discussed in detail.

Apart from the galactic-geologic correlations, an attempt is made to evaluate the degree of validity of the galactic model, and it is concluded that only future work, together with continuously improving geological and galactic knowledge, may eventually answer this clearly fundamental question.
