Larry, I think that there are two underlying trends that bring about the year end rally, not just the locking of bonuses by fund managers. The early month weakness is often amplified by tax selling, while the late month strength is amplified by the lack of professional traders to balance the market (many take long "christmas" vacations). If we continue with this decline as I expect, through about thuesday, we will have 7 or 8 consecutive down days, which will make the market quite oversold and it may bounce from its own dynamics. This bounce coupled with the coming holiday, may create the "spirited" rally I expect (but not before get hit hard here for two to four trading days, or to about Wed.
