PT, at the annual meeting Akerson said that only 10% of new customers choose phones without direct connect. Why a NXTL customer would select a non-direct connect phone is beyond me, given the freebies offered by the commodity companies like Sprint. What serious business person doesn't need to have better and faster communication with his employees, customers and suppliers? Nextel's Direct Connect offers that. No one else does. ADVANTAGE NEXTEL.
The truth is that Sprint has the advantage over NXTL in the low end of the business. Since NXTL decided long ago to leave that commodity business to others, it's no loss. With less spectrum they need to maximize their opportunity. They're doing that in spades with $70 arpu. ADVANTAGE NEXTEL.

Nextel will be one of only a handful (three, maybe four) wireless companies with a national footprint, thus adding value in a climate where millions are adding cellular service each year. Compare the wireless industry's size today with several years ago when McCaw sold to AT&T and you'll easily see how we'll get to $100 a share and beyond. And I haven't even discussed the international business. It's a no brainer. ADVANTAGE MY WALLET.

I don't know what subscribers you hang around with, but I can tell you from first hand experience, that the most important features with the Nextel phones are in the following order: 1. direct connect, 2: voice mail, 3: paging, 4: cell phone. The nextel units are a virtual mobil office. The direct connect allows me to keep in touch with my employees, and associated businesses that are on our own network. The voice mail and paging allows me to receive calls whereever I am. Should I be in my office or on the road, I can answer the caller from a landline, if I am without a landline, I will use the cell. My business has increased dramatically with the introduction of these units, and I as have most others have gotten rid of our ATT, Sprint, Bell Atlantic cell phones because they are not in the same league as the Nextel units. I can also tell you that we are currently paying approximately 150 a month per unit. Sounds high, but under examination we have increased our productivity by over 40% with the units and they more than pay for themselves. Calls come to my office, and I am notified immediately by the direct correct feature used by my secretary. I have to a large extent replaced my regular telephone number with my nextel number because with the nextel units are I am always accessible either directly or thru voice mail.
This is the experience of all the companies that I am aware of who use the units. Sprint is offering digital telephone service for approximately .10 cents per minute. No comparison, you still have to dial a number and wait. The direct connect puts you in touch with another person with the push of a button.
Recently, I have seen networks within networks established. This is possible because the radios can be programed to communicate with specific people within a network.

Advantage, Big time, Nextel
