Hi Paul,
I suspect that American companies will be heavily pressured
to contain costs to help bouy the stock price and maintain
some profits. This economic situation will hit American
companies fairly hard and will likely cause cutbacks to their
expansion plans. It is probable that Pac-Rim and American
companies will continue to develop new methods and technologies
for future products and buy discrete pieces of hardware, as
necessary, to place into development "pilot lines" while
they wait for the economic situation to improve. I really
think new fab expansion will be delayed, in most cases,
for about 1-2 years, until the dust settles from the current
crisis.
