Hi koan; Re: "Just because some other country is being stupid, doesn't mean we should be stupid too-lo!!";

The rain falls equally on the evil and the good. As such, the reward for doing (what you believe is) good does not exist.

You want to destroy our economy for a dream that has already failed.

We don't have a choice of stopping the world's use of CO2.

What we have a choice of (according to your stated physics beliefs which are silly) is the following:

(1) We can reduce our CO2 emissions at extreme cost to ourselves. For the present, this will give trade advantages to the countries we compete with. It will impoverish our citizens. Millions of us will die early deaths from the money we take from our other government expenditures and economic wealth and instead use to reduce our CO2 emissions. These damages include our health system, our infrastructure, our education, literally every part of our economy. But the end result will be that the planet's CO2 will continue to grow and someday in the distant future, despite our sacrifices, our planet's temperatures will rise and all these awful things will happen. Maybe.

(2) We can continue doing business the way we do them now. The end result will be that the planet's CO2 will continue to grow and someday in the distant future, our planet's temperatures will rise and all these awful things will happen. Maybe.

Now do you see why you can't sell the program to our politicians? What you're asking is for *our* citizens to sacrifice themselves for the sake of a planet whose CO2 levels will rise no matter what we do.

And the the various international agreements are completely compatible with my analysis. It's not just the 3rd world and China that are exempted from reducing their CO2 emissions. Hell, the 1st world is dropping out of the agreements. You lost. And you're losing more each year. It's over. From your point of view you ought to be moving North, LOL.
