I voted for Perot by the way :-) The "giant sucking sound" speech is still a classic tail of truth-telling, right up there with some great Ron Paul speeches and debate performances.... Paul leaned the lesson of Jesus:

"If you are going to tell the truth, you should quickly leave town!"

ROFLMAO!! Fox news stoned Paul and rode him out of town on a rail!! I hear Hannity had a cross he was gonna nail him to!

NO, deficits like the ones that Reagan put up weren't common and accepted.

Much larger deficits had happened at least 3 times before, and smaller but growing deficits had been a feature for quite some time before Reagan. There was no dramatic break up from the previous trend.

Of course continuing a bad trend is still bad.
