SS really pulled millions of people out of poverty and especially old women. I had to take care of my dear old mom (she was such a great mom) the last 23 years of her life. She was broken by life when her husband left her for a younger woman, and became psychotic for a while, was crippled by terrible arthritis and had no money. She was a kind and intelligent woman who ever lived. I was lucky to have her for a mom. I gave her my house to live in and money to pay her bills. Never asked for any welfare. Why I am still working. But I always think, if I had not existed she would have died a horrible death. That is what SS saved so many people from. Best program ever.
