Yeah Richard,

I've noticed that and I concluded that Yahoo is using EPS from last year in FY96 to come up with those figures. This is what StocksmartPro indicates:

"VIVUS INC. NASDAQ: (VVUS : $13 13/16)
$387 million Market Cap at December 10, 1997 Trades at a 58% Discount PE Multiple of 11.6 X, vs. the 27.9 X average multiple at which the Biomedics SubIndustry is priced. Biomedics SubIndustry down < 1.01%> / Health Industry down < .57> Today"

Even a quick calc of $13.50 price / $1.15 FY97 earnings = $11.74. It would have to be trailing earnings.
