"As far as Philosophical Materialists/Atheists being incredibly religious, well that's pretty obvious to everyone except perhaps YOU."

Don't be absurd. I won't even humour you with any acknowledgement beyond that. It is obvious that people who do not believe in god do not have a religion to act as a conduit to the worship and devotion to such a non-existent god! DUH!!

"Why don't you start by giving us your scientific proof for your philosophical commitment to Materialism?"

I do not have any commitment to materialism, so you are engaging in your normal practice of erecting straw men and contriving to misrepresent and mislead.

I have a commitment to REASON and REALITY. I do not pretend to know what I do not know--which would probably fill an ocean full of books. I am an atheist because the concept of god was clearly invented--and the thousands of contradictory claims made to reify this invented definition are all clearly absurd and irrational and collapse under their own absurdities, contradictions, and illusions. Like all humans, my senses engage only a fraction of reality (as 2MAR$ so aptly illustrated in a different post). I suppose we can compare our knowledge to the atoms that exist in the universe, and what we do not know to the empty space between matter.

You would like to pretend that I have faith in some alternative to your superstitious beliefs. But I do not. I merely HAVE an alternative that is based on a commitment to Reason and to REALITY--as we come to know and understand it.

Faith is a belief in something which is unknown or unprovable. I have no such beliefs. Even my beliefs regarding reality are tentative and subject to change with every new inroad made by our greatest thinkers...as they continue to explore the Nature of Reality.

If you are not interested in sincere discussion, then may I suggest you post elsewhere. You waste everyone's time when you misrepresent what people say.
