Glenn, I don't think he means speedwise. I think he means that
xDSL will be like VHS to cable's BETA. Cable is strapped with
high debt and they aren't moving fast enough.

IMHO:

1) The installation is much easier and will be like the analog modems we use now once Microsoft builds the interface component into the OS. To install a cable modem, the cable company has to send a team to the site and spend an average of 2 hours on the site.

2) The price will be cheaper and the speed will be at least same or higher. For a cable modem, you pay a monthly fee on top of the monthly cable fee.

Glenn,

For one thing DMT ADSL will support speeds up to 8MB and can incorporate voice, video, and data on the same phone line. At least that is the intent. Of course there are the usual distance constraints like how far you are from the CO and other little tidbits like that.
