On top of this, AlGor's guys in Kyoto have come to agreement on the terms for the next Great Depression. The only thing standing in the way of implementing this disaster is a thin blue line of gutless Republicans. Maybe at least they can negotiate it down to a nasty recession.

Good stuff Moonray. I'd like to mention a couple of things that makes the situation worse.
1) In currency crisis, people used to buy gold. But now gold is no longer an acceptable alternative. So they buy US$ instead, and stuffed them under their beds literally. If 10% of 5B Asian people buy $1000, and put them away instead of saving them in the bank (you don't want to save your cash in the bank that's in trouble would you?), you have $50B US$ that is not actively liquid.
2) Korea's mule-headed action is typical of Asian countries that are run by a handfull of dictators. They can't open their book to the IMF, because it's been cooked plus it exposes the corruptions which means the end of the road for them. Indonesia just received some loaned from the IMF, and it's national central bank just got burned down. How convenient. Thailand's top man agreed to go away as a condition for the bail out loaned; he's staging a come back.
