Transferred some cash into Fidelity Select Precious
Metals today. Once in my life I have to act on
an idea that comes from James Grant's comments.
Smart guy, just not often right...but he will be
someday...and I have missed a lot of his bad
picks (he recommended Korea earlier in the
year saying something like since it was down
50% etc...oh well). Well anyway, while he did not
mention buying a fund, he did state that
you have to recognize the cheap price of gold
(not quite his words...he speaks very fast
and it is impossible to remember exactly what
he says...just the flavour).
He might like the metal more than the
stocks...but this seems like a good way to
play things--down over 50% this year, the
fund looks like it has better prospects than
fidsel american gold--prec metal should
react better to a recovery in the price of not
only gold...but the other metals too. Anyway
read the prospectus blah blah blah and wish me
luck!
