Finisar sells the optical transmitter-receivers to Ciena which in turn sells long-haul and metro gear for ATT's network. Ciena would not be considered at the edge of the network, but more the core. So not really directly related to U-Verse at all. I skimmed through their CC and did not see anything specific on optical/fiber/backbone/metro spending, so not sure why it would push these stocks so much. Guess the market was expecting a severe reduction in capex, so they are relieved.
