Dima, Not a clear and overwhelming vote and a bad idea in many of our opinions. Will remove anybody that I believe brings the nature of the discussion down or adds little value to any thread I moderate as will several others I know. Maybe this decision makes me a poor example of a Moderator but after almost 20 years here on SI I believe I understand what makes SI better than other sites. Clean

Have you thought about a third chance? Removing all Ignores? I didn't vote because I didn't know what a wide conciliation is. Or a site wide conciliation day. Is the "day" going to last through Sunday, and are the bans going to be restored Monday? I think the poll was fixed. As one poster Replied, if the poll generated had "bad idea" first every other poll, so roughly half the poll views had each choice first, and if you reported how many poll views there were by the cutoff time, we would know (or could calculate) how many non-votes there were (and of these, how many had bad idea first and how many had good idea (aka "great idea") first, and could interpret the meaning and significance, or lack thereof, of 219 votes. You could have refined this to only count a non-vote once per alias, and decided should you count the last view only or the first view only (subsequent views may have been to just check the vote totals). If I had voted for one of the choices, it would have been "bad idea". I may have made a post like that, but I'm sure I didn't vote. The poll wording was biased by using "great" rather than the neutral "good". I wonder how many people saw the bias and chose not to participate? Even the color choices you made for the bar graph are biased. Red in a financial forum is negative, black is positive.

Oh good, now the stupid asses who think of themselves as geniuses and who just post on some threads in order to get banned as their "mark of honor" will get yet another opportunity to be pains in the asses. Wow, is this dumb on so very many levels.

Not a big deal to me.... I have only banned one person on the boards I moderate. And I do not ignore anyone.....ignore is for the weakminded. Moreover, I find that many of the people who have me on ignore still read and respond to what I post....very odd behavior indeed. I can live with the bans on a freedom of association type of principle....but overall I think ignore and bans are bad ideas.

SI Brad did this 2.5 years ago (bans), also adjusted the Peoplemarks so if someone is no longer an SI member, you would lose those Peoplemarks. Seen one persons Peoplemarks with over 900 drop to under 500. It was received with little if any opposition. I don't know why the big fuss by some members now.

wow, only 219 votes cast... seems many didn't know there was a vote... or SI doesn't have many active members why didn't you guys send PMs to all members letting them know there was a vote? Obliviously those who voted to end all bans are mostly disgruntled losers and whiners who deserved their bans
