There's much to take place yet in the Christie story. Some of it is simply the way politics works, some of it is beyond that but not yet criminal, and some is, undoubtedly, criminal. As to which is which, it will take some time to sort it all out. Not to speak of finding the spots with enough evidence to bring charges of any sort.

I can't see an argument that Christie will have a shot at the 2016 Rep nomination. It was always going to be something of a stretch and depended on his being able to convince the tea party types that he could win nationally though he broke more than a few of their governing rules. That's gone now.

He'll be spending most of this year, at the very least, lining up defense arguments against the widening scope of charges being brought against him, his administration, and his crew.

Does he still have a national political future? Very hard to tell right now. If he survives this, it will make him much stronger. I don't see how he does, but I thought his legislative proposals after his first election would end him as a governor, then I thought his performance at those town halls would do so. Shows you just how good I am at predictions.
