If you feel like this winter has brought you to your knees, you're not alone- and with good reason. This January has been one for the record books.

So just how cold has it been? The average temperature in January is 13.1 degrees Fahrenheit. This year's average has been almost four degrees below that at 9.4 degrees.

When you add our latest deep freeze to the mix, this January is on pace to be the second coldest in the last 30 years.

Subzero has become the new normal. Half the days this month have gone negative on your thermometer.

So what's responsible for all this? When in doubt, blame the Polar Vortex. Might as well, because it looks like it's going to be here for a while.

According to the climate prediction center, February's temperatures in Minnesota are expected to be below normal.
