Neighbors Say Planned Parenthood’s Billboard Goes Too Far

WREG ^ | Melissa Moon

(Memphis) A Planned Parenthood billboard has only been up a week in one South Memphis neighborhood, but some people there already want it to come down.

They say the billboard, which includes the message “Getting It On Is Free” and a picture of a condom, is too graphic.

“I was shocked. I was appalled that anyone would put up a picture of condom,” said Karen Wallace.

Karen Wallace works at a church nearby and has to drive by the billboard every day.

She said what is worse it’s right next to an elementary school cross walk.

“The graphic was not necessary the message was enough,” said Wallace.

A dad who saw the sign for the first time Thursday agreed and said it’s not something he wants his children to see.

“No! It ain’t nothing to send out to my kids,” said Rickey Munn.

The billboard is one of 12 Planned Parenthood has put in the county to prevent HIV and STD’s.

The billboards direct people to FreeCondomsMemphis.org.

Pete Seeger, Marxist minstrel

.................................................................................................
Center for Vision and Values ^ | February 3, 2014 | Paul G. Kengor

Pete Seeger’s death at age 94 is a cultural catharsis for the American left. The New York Times accorded his passing the kind of space normally reserved for the death of a president. Such was Seeger’s special place of reverence among liberals.

The media is hailing Seeger as a “social-justice” crusading “progressive,” a voice for the poor, the downtrodden, the working man, and the environment. He’s also being portrayed as a victim of wild-eyed McCarthyites who maniacally searched for a red under every bed.

Well, the full story is a little different.

Pete Seeger had in fact been a Marxist, a committed one who stumped for international communism at the height of the Stalin era. Interviewed in 2008 for the PBS series, “American Masters,” Seeger conceded those sympathies. He first joined the Young Communist League at Harvard (mid-1930s) and later (early 1940s) joined Communist Party USA (CPUSA).

That latter fact is a halting one. Many American communists bolted from CPUSA when their beloved Joseph Stalin allied with Hitler, specifically via the August 1939 Hitler-Stalin Pact. Not Seeger. He was undeterred, joining the party after the pact. (For the record, likewise undeterred was Barack Obama’s mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, who also joined CPUSA after the pact.)

Seeger was a loyal comrade. If you were a communist agitator/organizer staging a big display or furthering the revolution, Pete Seeger’s presence was as reliable as a red flag. He was guaranteed to provide musical entertainment for the cause.

Here are a few examples:

At the massive anti-Vietnam rally held in New York City in April 1967, organized by the radical New Mobe, Seeger was there, strumming for the faithful.

In the 1950s, New York communist parents sent their red-diaper babies to the Little Red School House, founded in the 1920s by “progressives.” There, the likes of Angela Davis, Victor Navasky, the sons of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, and future Weather Underground terrorist Kathy Boudin (still in jail for murder) sat at the knee of leftist celebrities like Seeger, who played and taught music there.

Seeger also provided rousing performances at the summer “commie camps” in the Catskills where the New York faithful sent their children to study the gospel according to Marx. These surreal spectacles were a sort of twisted red version of Vacation Bible School.

But Seeger’s most disturbing work as a Marxist minstrel was his crooning for “The Almanacs,” which historian Ron Radosh—himself a former red-diaper baby—calls a “communist folk-singing group.” At varying times, “The Almanacs” included Seeger, Woody Guthrie, Burl Ives, and Will Geer, later known as “Grandpa” on TV’s “The Waltons.” Seeger founded the group in 1941.

The most egregious work by “The Almanacs” was its propaganda for the insidious American Peace Mobilization, which Congress identified as “one of the most seditious organizations which ever operated in the United States” and “one of the most notorious and blatantly communist fronts ever organized.” Founded in 1940, the objective of the American Peace Mobilization was to keep America out of the war against Hitler. This also meant no Lend-Lease money to Britain.

Why did the American Peace Mobilization take such a position? It did so because Hitler signed an alliance with Stalin. For American communists, any friend of Stalin was a friend of theirs. They literally swore an oath, formally pledging to a “Soviet America” and to “the triumph of Soviet power in the United States.” They were unflinchingly devout Soviet patriots.

In my book Dupes, I publish the declassified Soviet Comintern document detailing how the American Peace Mobilization “was organised on the initiative of our Party in Chicago in September, 1940.” (Obama’s mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, was there.)

As for mobilizing the “peace,” eager Pete Seeger was there to salute the flag.

The kick-off rally to attract naïve recruits (i.e., liberal dupes) to the American Peace Mobilization was a huge April 1941 promotional in New York. The featured musical talent was Stalinist Paul Robeson and “The Almanacs.” Almost every “folk ballad” was a swipe at America and FDR—who communists were attacking at that point—for supporting an “unjust war” by aiding Britain as it was besieged by the Nazis’ ferocious onslaught.

Such was the position of American communists, like Pete Seeger.

Of course, liberals should be enraged at Seeger for efforts like this. Unfortunately, they don’t understand their own history. For them, the bad guys are never on the left. As ex-communist James Burnham used to say, for the left, the preferred enemy is always to the right.

Speaking of which, in the left’s perverse moral universe, I’ll be viewed as the bad guy for pointing out these sordid facts about Pete Seeger. I’ll be pitied for my crass McCarthyism, whereas Seeger will be forever lionized by liberals as a peace-loving lamb, a happy-hearted hippie unfairly persecuted for his mere pursuit of “social justice.” -

Wisconsin town sued for banning display of American flag on overpasses

.................................................................................
The Daily Caller ^ | 2-4-14 | Rachel Stoltzfoos

02/04/2014 by Rachel Stoltzfoos

The town of Campbell, Wis., is facing a federal lawsuit challenging ordinance 9.12, which bans the display of banners or flags on or near the town’s pedestrian overpass.

Demonstrators began using the overpass in August 2013 to call for President Obama’s impeachment and to display patriotism.
After a gathering in October angered local citizens and garnered media attention, the Town of Campbell passed the ordinance, which prohibits the display of signs, flags or banners within 100 feet of the overpass.

On Oct. 24, Gregory Luce and a few supporters, wearing T-shirts that collectively spelled out “IMPEACH OBAMA,” were ordered by a policeman to leave the overpass or be issued a citation.
They left as ordered.

Three days, later Nicholas Newman was issued a $139 citation for displaying an American flag.

The Thomas More Law Center announced Monday it has filed the suit on behalf of Luce and Newman, on the grounds that their rights to freedom of speech and peaceful assembly have been violated, and that the ordinance itself is blatantly unconstitutional.

“The Supreme Court has repeatedly stated that a bedrock principle of the First Amendment is that government cannot ban the expression of ideas just because some find it offensive,” said Richard Thompson, president and chief counsel of the Thomas More Law Center. “In fact, the Supreme Court has allowed the burning of the American Flag on the grounds that it is a matter of free expression. So I’m astonished that the Town of Campbell and the police department think it can ban a citizen from displaying the American Flag.”

Luce and Newman were participating in a nationwide movement called “ Overpasses for America,” which calls for the president’s impeachment and the removal of members of Congress who “disregard the constitution” and “engage in crony capitalism.”

The town of Campbell did not respond to a request for comment.

Viewers furious Michelle Obama ruined the ‘Puppy Bowl’: ‘Is nothing safe?’
..................................................................................
Bizpacreview ^ | February 3, 2014

For some, Animal Planet’s annual “Puppy Bowl” is more sacred than the Super Bowl.

CNN summed it up in a nutshell:

. . . the sublime result of pairing a bunch of wiggly puppies — 66, in fact — with squeaky toys and a mini-stadium set. Add a “rufferee” and a kitty-filled halftime, and every floppy tackle or slobbered-on football inspires an unintelligible burst of baby talk and giggles. That’s the power of puppies!

Maybe it’s not for everyone, but those who love it want to keep politics out, and who can blame them?

This year, Michelle Obama had to go and ruin it for many who just wanted to have a joyful day void of lectures and goofy (human) faces . . . oh , and “anti-fat propaganda.”

Twitchy captured the sentiments of the highly disappointed viewers:

Apparently , in addition to a “Let’s Move” lecture, the first “lady” showed some not so ladylike moves as well.

Dan Gainor, Vice President of the Culture and Media Institute at the Media Research Center’s commented:

“Once again, Hollywood gives the Obamas the gift that keeps on giving – almost infinite TV time. First Lady Michelle Obama scored her 75th TV appearance with a spot in the middle of “Puppy Bowl X.” It isn’t enough for Hollywood liberals to bombard us with the First Lady in everything from “Sesame Street” to the Oscars. Now we get the Mrs. Obama even with our silly puppy play time.

“Even worse, TV has increased its in-kind contributions of time to the Democratic First Lady. Five years in, Michelle Obama has already outpaced First Lady Laura Bush’s entire eight years 75-53. Mrs. Obama is racking up appearances 225% more than her predecessor. That’s entertainment.

“Coupling that TV support with the millions of dollars raised by actors like George Clooney makes it obvious this isn’t TV, it’s a political contribution.”

Cheap Shot: ABC Invokes Sarah Palin in Story on Violent Little League Coaches

NewsBusters.org ^ | February 6, 2014 | Scott Whitlock

ABC's David Wright is obsessed with Sarah Palin. The Nightline correspondent on Wednesday gratuitously attacked the former vice presidential candidate in a segment that has nothing to do with politics. Wright investigated angry, violent coaches of youth sports.

After featuring clips of men encouraging third grade football players to hit each other in the head, Wright made an abrupt left turn into liberal bias: "That full-throated passion, part of the culture of sports in this country. Lampooned in movies like Kicking and Screaming and celebrated by the original hockey mom herself, Sarah Palin, in 2008." [See video below. MP3 audio here.]

Cheap Shot: ABC Gratuitously Compares Sarah Palin to Violent, Angry Kids's Coaches

While playing footage of the reality show Friday Night Tykes, Wright marveled, "These are third graders...Another coach pushing his players to do things the NFL has banned."

When did Palin go on expletive-laden rants in front of children? When did the Republican encourage violence against young kids? Wright didn't say. Instead, he played a clip of Palin from her 2008 vice presidential acceptance speech: "You know, they say the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull? Lipstick."

Just prior to the Palin remark, Wright featured a clip of the Will Ferrell assaulting a child in the movie Kicking and Screaming.

This isn't the first time the reporter has forced his politics into an unrelated story.

On the February 16, 2009 Nightline, he produced a seemingly uncontroversial segment on the 50th anniversary of the Barbie doll. He casually mentioned, "She's been an astronaut and a rock star, pop icons Beyonce and Shakira."

After discussing the many careers Barbie has had, the journalist mocked, "Some would argue she also ran for vice president in 2008."

Wright can be reached on Twitter here. One might ask him why he's so obsessed with trashing Palin.

Hillsdale professor rips Common Core as “superficial, biased, embarrassingly dumb”

Leslie Eastman Friday, February 7, 2014
collegeinsurrection.com

We recently reported that an architect of the new federal education program Common Core Architect admitted partnership with the Obama campaign team.

This may readily explain a Hillsdale college professor’s devastating assessment of its quality.

A Hillsdale College professor has penned a book he hopes will serve as a user’s guide for parents, citizens, and state lawmakers to help them fully grasp what will actually happen in classrooms where the Common Core standards are being implemented—and how this initiative will only hasten the full decline of our schools.

Dr. Terrence Moore—author, historian, teacher, and former U.S. Marine lieutenant—argues there is an urgent need for parents, taxpayers, and state legislatures to defeat the Common Core initiative. In his book The Story-Killers: A Common-Sense Case Against the Common Core, Moore takes parents, especially those who may know little about the standards, through a hypothetical school district and into classrooms, demonstrating how the Common Core will put a nail in the coffin of the already suffering progressive education system many Americans have simply come to accept.

In an interview with Breitbart News, Moore illuminated the hidden agenda behind the Common Core initiative, particularly its drive to remove classical literature from schools and replace it with “informational texts,” a move, he said, that will make children superficial and biased in their thinking.

“Literature is about living people,” Moore said. “Too many people in education already don’t truly love literature. It’s not even called ‘literature’ anymore. Now we call it ‘English Language Arts.’ And, with Common Core, we are moving even further away from real life, to a more ‘informational’ and artificial way of living.”

“Nobody really cares about Jane Austen when everyone’s worried about the 21st century global economy,” Moore added, noting that children will lose a sense of deeper, personal relationships with others if they are encouraged, in school, just to skim significant literature while they devote much of their time to “information.”

Moore notes the bias in the Common Core standards, evidenced by the lack of literary works inspired by religion. “It’s not till you start asking questions about what’s not in the standards that you realize the bias,” he said. “The texts from the standards are superficial, politically biased, and embarrassingly dumb.”

As for lesson plans that are “aligned” with the standards, Moore said, “Common Core proponents say school districts and states can come up with their own curricula, but then when they’re pressed for time, they throw up their hands and then in comes Prentice Hall with its ready-to-use Common Core curriculum.”

Disaster For Hillary--Dead Friend Diane Blair's Papers Go Public
................................................................................................................

AP

BY: Alana Goodman February 9, 2014
freebeacon.com

The papers of Diane Blair, a political science professor Hillary Clinton described as her “closest friend” before Blair’s death in 2000, record years of candid conversations with the Clintons on issues ranging from single-payer health care to Monica Lewinsky.

The archive includes correspondence, diaries, interviews, strategy memos, and contemporaneous accounts of conversations with the Clintons ranging from the mid-1970s to the turn of the millennium.

Diane Blair’s husband, Jim Blair, a former chief counsel at Tyson Foods Inc. who was at the center of “Cattlegate,” a 1994 controversy involving the unusually large returns Hillary Clinton made while trading cattle futures contracts
in the 1970s, donated his wife’s papers to the University of Arkansas Special Collections library in Fayetteville after her death.

The full contents of the archive, which before 2010 was closed to the public, have not previously been reported on and shed new light on Clinton’s three decades in public life. The records paint a complex portrait of Hillary Clinton, revealing her to be a cutthroat strategist who relished revenge against her adversaries and complained in private that nobody in the White House was “tough and mean enough.”

THE SEX FILES On July 28, 1997, President Clinton was facing yet another wave of allegations from yet another woman. Kathleen Willey had accused Clinton of sexually assaulting her, and Blair faxed a Drudge Report item about her claims to one of the president’s aides.

Blair’s handwritten note attached to the story: “Do we take Matt Drudge seriously?”

Six months later, Drudge would break the story of an affair between Clinton and 22-year-old White House intern Monica Lewinsky, setting in motion the events that would lead to the president’s impeachment.

When Clinton finally admitted to the relationship after repeated denials, Hillary Clinton defended her husband in a phone call with Blair. She said her husband had made a mistake by fooling around with the “narcissistic loony toon” Lewinsky, but was driven to it in part by his political adversaries, the loneliness of the presidency, and her own failures as a wife.

She told Blair that the affair did not include sex “within any real meaning” of the term and noted President Clinton “tried to manage” Monica after they broke up but things spiraled “beyond control.”

Blair described the contents of the Sept. 9, 1998, phone call in a journal entry.

“But, she does say this to put his actions in context. Ever since he took office they’ve been going thru personal tragedy ([the death of] Vince [Foster], her dad, his mom) and immediately all the ugly forces started making up hateful things about them, pounding on them.”

In her conversations with Blair, the first lady gave her husband credit for trying to end the affair with Lewinsky, and said he did not take advantage of his White House intern.

“It was a lapse, but she says to his credit he tried to break it off, tried to pull away, tried to manage someone who was clearly a ‘narcissistic loony toon’; but it was beyond control,” wrote Blair.

“HRC insists, no matter what people say, it was gross inappropriate behavior but it was consensual (was not a power relationship) and was not sex within any real meaning (standup, liedown, oral, etc.) of the term.”

ALL THOSE WHINEY WOMEN

Privately, the Clinton White House was acutely sensitive to public perceptions of President Clinton’s treatment of women.

The Clinton camp found itself dealing with Bill Clinton’s infidelity early on. In a confidential Feb. 16, 1992, memo entitled “Possible Investigation Needs,” Clinton campaign staff proposed ways to suppress and discredit stories about the then-Arkansas governor’s affairs.

Campaign operatives Loretta Lynch and Nancy McFadden wrote the memo, addressed to campaign manager David Wilhelm.

The first item on the itinerary discussed “GF,” a reference to Gennifer Flowers, the actress and adult model who had recently disclosed her 12-year affair with Bill Clinton.

Exposing GF: completely as a fraud, liar and possible criminal to stop this story and related stories, prevent future non-related stories and expose press inaction and manipulation,” said the memo.

In 1998 Bill Clinton admitted he had had a sexual relationship with Flowers.

Another item, headlined “Women,” referred to Elizabeth Ward and Lencola Sullivan, also rumored to have had relationships with Bill.

“Elizabeth Ward … determine attitude & check out background; Any Reep connections? When does Playboy come out?”

YOU ARE ENTERING A WORLD OF PAIN

Days after President Clinton’s impeachment in 1998, the first lady called Blair in good spirits, telling her friend that, “Most people in this town have no pain threshold.”

“[Hillary] sounded very up, almost jolly,” wrote Blair. “Told me how she and Bill and Chelsea had been to church, to a Chinese restaurant, to a Shakespeare play, greeted everywhere with wild applause and cheers—this, she said is what drives their adversaries totally nuts, that they don’t bend, do not appear to be suffering.”

Hillary Clinton’s “adversaries” included the media, Republicans, and top members of President Clinton’s staff, according to a Washington Free Beacon analysis of the contents of the Blair archive.

“HC says press has big egos and no brains,” wrote Blair on May 19, 1993, during the White House travel office controversy. “That [the White House is] just going to have to work them better; that her staff has figured it out and would be glad to teach [Bill’s] staff.”

The First Lady often confided in Blair about her “hellacious” first year in the White House, and her many clashes with staffers, administration figures, and her husband. By the spring of 1994, Hillary was “furious” at Bill for “ruining himself and the Presidency.”

“She keeps trying to shape things up, knows what’s wrong, but [Bill] can’t fire people, exert discipline, punish leakers,” Blair wrote on May 17, 1994. “Never had strategy for Whitewater, troopers, Paula [Jones]. … Inability to organize, make tough choices, drives her nuts.”

Blair, a frequent guest at the White House, recounted two nights in mid-March 1993 when President Clinton spoke on the “theme of being spied on, taped, watched, imprisoned.”

“[Bill] told me last 2, 3 months hideously stressful, and has really never had a break since campaign,” Blair wrote. “Said when he named [Warren] Christopher to [State Department], screwed up the transition.”

The insularity of the Clinton White House was not lost on administration officials.

“Chat w. [Attorney General] Janet Reno,” Blair wrote on April 24, 1993. “She concerned that [Hillary Clinton is] resenting her ‘celebrity’ status.”

“Janet wants to connect w. HC; not communicate thru Carol Rasco,” Blair added. “Finds HC a ‘mask.’”

SINGLE-PAYER NECESSARY

On Feb. 23, 1993, Blair joined the Clintons for a family dinner at the White House. The subject of health care reform came up.

“At dinner, [Hillary] to [Bill] at length on the complexities of health care—thinks managed competition a crock; single-payer necessary; maybe add to Medicare,” Blair wrote.

The account is at odds with public statements by the former First Lady that she never supported the single-payer option.

In an interview with the New York Times as she ran for president in 2008, Hillary Clinton said she had never seriously considered adopting a single-payer system,
in which the government, using funds appropriated from taxpayers, pays for all health care expenses.

“You know, I have thought about this, as you might guess, for 15 years and I never seriously considered a single payer system,” said Clinton in the interview.

At the time of Blair’s account, the First Lady recently had been appointed to the president’s health care task force and had started her push for an insurance reform that hinged on the “managed competition” model.

However, at the February 1993 dinner, the First Lady already seemed to regret her decision to take on health care reform.

“[Bill’s] tenderly hugging and thanking [Hillary] for sucking up to all thos ego’s nd taking all this shit [sic],” wrote Blair. “She’s signaling him what a mess health care is, bu also, sweetly, ‘Don’t worry’ [sic].”

By the spring, the First Lady seemed deeply anxious about the effort.

“[Hillary] adamant; [Bill] must devise new outside strategy; we’re getting killed. Congress a bunch of whiners; no courage. Her health care plan will save billions in long run but will cost big $ up front. [Members of Congress] don’t work; only 3 days a week; only care for re-election,” wrote Blair. “[Bill] clearly not very happy w. his own crew and advisors. [Hillary] urging hard ball.”

As the First Lady prepared to testify before Congress in September 1993, Blair wrote that “she’s begun to see that they don’t really care about the issues but want to feel they’re part of the process. So she’s slobbering over their ‘craft’ as she testifies.”

Hillary Clinton’s testimony is seen in retrospect as the high point of her failed health care campaign.

“The week may have been the pinnacle of her career as First Lady,” wrote Carl Bernstein in his 2008 book Woman in Charge. “Hillary was making history, and there were comparisons on the floor of Congress to Martha Washington, Eleanor Roosevelt, and in one particularly tortured leap of logic, Abraham Lincoln.”

SUPREME THWART

Hillary Clinton’s influence on White House decisions went beyond policy, according to the Blair papers.

A three-page memo written by Blair on May 11, 1994, shows the First Lady privately urging President Clinton to reject his preferred 1994 candidate for the U.S. Supreme Court because of political considerations.

While Bill Clinton favored the late Arkansas Judge Richard Arnold, he and his wife had concerns about the judge’s health.

Hillary Clinton also argued that rejecting Arnold would send a “message” to the judge’s ally, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette publisher Walter Hussman, Jr., whose paper often printed unflattering stories about the Clintons.

“Goddamn Hussman needs to know that it’s his own goddamn fault; that he can’t destroy everybody from Ark. and everything about the state and not pay the price for his precious Richard [Arnold],” Hillary said, according to Blair’s account.

“He needs to get the message big-time,
that Richard might have a chance [to be appointed to the Supreme Court] next round if Hussman and his minions will lay off all this outrageous lies and innuendo.”

The details in Blair’s memo challenge the contemporary understanding of Hillary Clinton’s role in the debate over the 1994 appointment. The First Lady has been credited as one of the few members of the president’s inner circle who lobbied in favor of Arnold’s nomination.

However, that seems not to be the case.

President Clinton has said he did not appoint Arnold for health reasons. The judge had been diagnosed with advanced lymphoma, and according to the Blair memo his doctors could not guarantee he would live more than five years.

He died in 2004.

The health concerns were related to President Clinton’s fear that Arnold could be his last Supreme Court appointment.

“At this point BC not sure he can get re-elected; they’re killing him in the South, rise of fundamentalism, the Nazi’s. Some of that he did to himself—gay rights in the military. Others just hate the one who’s in,” Blair wrote in an account of one of her conversations with the president.

According to the memo, Bill Clinton dispatched Blair to discuss the issue with Hillary, but the First Lady stood her ground.

“If HRC carried the day, and it sounds as if she is, [the nominee] will be [Bruce] Babbitt,” wrote Blair. “She’s not wild about him. Wishes there were a 3rd choice.”

President Clinton ended up appointing Stephen Breyer,
who became an associate justice of the Supreme Court in August 1994.

THE FUTURE IS NOW

As Hillary Clinton prepares for a possible 2016 presidential run, the Clinton team has a great incentive to focus on the future.

However, recent weeks have made it clear this will not be easy.

Sen. Rand Paul’s remark about Bill Clinton’s “predatory behavior” on a recent Sunday talk show generated a days-long media firestorm and reignited the decades-old Lewinsky controversy.

While Hillary Clinton has gone from the White House to the Senate to the State Department, experts say she will likely be forced to readdress some of the controversies that defined her husband’s presidency if she decides on a 2016 bid.

Neither a Clinton spokesman nor a spokesman for the Clinton Foundation returned a request for comment from the Free Beacon on the materials contained in the Blair archive.

As the 2016 contest draws near, however, the contents of this little-known archive of one of the closest friends of the most famous woman in the world are sure to receive fresh scrutiny.

While thousands of Diane Blair’s papers are available to the public at the University of Arkansas Library, an undisclosed number of documents remain kept in a restricted section of the archive. The Free Beacon was unable to gain access to those documents.

“With this collection, [Diane Blair’s] contributions will grow and live on, enlarging our understanding of history, politics and culture,” Hillary Clinton said in a video address at the opening of Blair’s archive in 2010.

“I hope also that some young scholar will come along and write the story of Diane,” she added. “We miss her still but this, along with so many of her contributions to us, lives on.”

Pot/Kettle: Obama stooge Gibbs Says Christie Can't Claim He Didn't Know What Was Going On

By Mark Finkelstein | February 10, 2014

Pot, kettle, hello? If Dems wanted to find someone to attack Chris Christie's credibility for claiming he didn't know what was going on in his administration, couldn't they have found someone less vulnerable than Robert Gibbs? After all, Gibbs served as spox for Barack Obama, the man who has made an art form out of claiming he only found out about his admin's latest scandal when he read about it in the paper.

But there was Gibbs leading with his chin on Morning Joe today, asking "how many times can [Christie] play the card of 'I had no idea this was going on in my own office?" Joe Scarborough was only too happy to oblige Gibbs with a haymaker to his rhetorical jaw: "Robert, it's getting to the point he is starting to sound like Barack Obama." View the amusing video after the jump.

Even after absorbing Scarborough's blow, Gibbs soldiered on like the Black Knight, regurgitating his original accusation that Christie can only claim so many times that he didn't know what was going on.

Question: how could Gibbs not have realized that he was setting himself up for a classic pot-meet-kettle takedown?

ROBERT GIBBS: You really do have to wonder does he have any idea what's happening in his office, and how many times can you play the card of "I had no idea this was going on in my own office?" This is by all accounts --

JOE SCARBOROUGH: Robert, it's getting to the point where he's starting to sound like Barack Obama: I had no idea until I read about it in the paper, whether it was the AP or Fox, or whether it was the IRS, whether it was NSA.

GIBBS: I knew there was a limit to your capacity to be critical of Chris Christie and now we I assume we've reached it.

SCARBOROUGH: What is it with these politicians? I am actually, Barnicle, making a serious point. I'm sorry to rudely cut off Robert there . . . So what's irritated a lot of us Republicans over the past year is the fact every time bad news comes out, Barack Obama says, oh, I had no idea until I read about it in the paper. I'm just as angry as you. And now they've got the guy that wants to be President of the United States saying, oh, hey, I didn't know about this until I read about it in the paper. Despite the fact it was in my own backyard and I'm just as mad as you. You can understand why some Republicans would be a little concerned with Chris Christie sounding a lot like, in our opinion, about Barack Obama over the past year, right?

GIBBS: Well I don't know whether he sounds like Barack Obama. I certainly know that he sounds as if he has no idea, like I said, what goes on in a statement that came from his office. The decision by the deputy chief of staff as you said to close the world's busiest bridge. Again, I think you can only use that so many times.

John Boehner, Eunuch
..........................................................................

Jason Kissner 2/11/2014

Less than 24 hours after President Obama illegally rewrote the law he had previously jammed down Boehner's -- and the country's -- throat, Boehner handed the budding dictator a clean debt-ceiling hike.

Last October, Obama vindictively shut down the federal government upon his having refused to delay ObamaCare, which of course is exactly what he himself lawlessly did on February 10, 2014!

Of course, Boehner is hardly in a position to argue now, having foolishly (immensely so) accepted responsibility for the shutdown.

Never mind Boehner's cowardice (we'll get to that in a moment); what kind of moron cedes that kind of maneuverability to the enemy?

Here is what a real leader would have positioned himself to say on February 11 to the man known as Obama:

"Not only has Obama once again dictatorially rewritten a law read by nobody who passed it, he has also accepted responsibility for last October's shutdown. Last October, we asked Obama to do exactly what he himself did yesterday in a completely illegal way, but Obama preferred the alternative of shutting the government down, knowing that he would act on his own, illegally, whenever necessary.

The time for Obama's lawlessness has come to an end. The only way he is going to get a debt-ceiling hike is if he delays the individual mandate. If he refuses, the consequences of his refusal fall upon him. We are only asking him to do legally today the kind of thing recent history has irrefutably shown he will do tomorrow, but illegally."

Instead, assuming that Boehner actually dislikes ObamaCare, he is gambling that the practical depredations and inconveniences of ObamaCare will undo the law.

The problem with this strategy is simple: a country whose legislators allow the executive to usurp their power and defy the law of the people is, sooner or later, doomed -- because under such circumstances, monstrosities even greater than ObamaCare are all but certain to follow.

Of course, Boehner does not have the constitution for any of this. Whether it's to do with race, government shutdowns, the nature and scope of executive power, or anything else really--eunuchs like Boehner allow the Democrats to dictate the terms of the debate -- which means battles are lost before they are even "engaged."

Boy, if there were an actual opposition party in this country, they could use this to fight the Democrats.
