You're misinterpreting the signals... It's not an offer of "carte blance" to lie their asses off... Instead, it's a threat, saying that if you don't lie about "the science", as demanded, you will not get funded... And, that flagrant issuance of marching orders, telling the "scientists" to cook the results of their work, extends the issue well beyond "politicization" of science to the practice of flagrant fraud and financial corruption. For that to work, the frauds and cheats in politics REQUIRE them to engage in that lack of scientific integrity that enables their other frauds to continue, although we're now long past the point that both frauds have proven unsustainable. That cooperation is required... in order for their dependent scams to claim the fraud that is being conducted by the scientists (following the politicians orders) provides a veneer of legitimacy, which they need to enable the financial frauds which they are basing on the scientists opinions. The re-distribution of wealth that is intended, of course, is not from the more fortunate to the less fortunate of the planet, but from those with fortunes... to the cronies of the politicians... which is always and exactly the end result you expect from destroying basic free market functions and enabling cleptocrats to make decisions. The speech itself... is a proof of misfeasance... "Science"... doesn't have an agenda, other than a result that is the actual truth... whatever that is. "Science" doesn't pretend to know the answers when it doesn't... When it does... it isn't "science" any more. And, of course, those doing that sort of work.. aren't scientists... but whores.
