try waiting 5hours to get seen in a busy ED

for profit hospitals won't treat unless you PAY.

I will say that up to 25% of hospital admissions come from the ED.

Because, Dave, if the hospital takes ANY money from the Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) under the Medicare program - they are required BY LAW to have an emergency room and emergency services.
