As far as a longer term payment plan which is also mentioned in the article. JJ Bienaim recently mentioned that as a possibility as well (BMRN has an early stage gene therapy program for Factor VIII). If gene therapy does become fairly successful and longer term payments become the preferred reimbursement method I wonder if some of these smaller companies that really need the cash may opt to sell the revenue stream to someone like a royalty company.
