CPQ channel reorganization.
<News this morning indicates further trouble for CPQ ahead with its channel. CPQ is preparing to ut its channel by a factor of 10.>

Jim: why do you construe this as a negative for CPQ?According to CPQ they are reducing the number of channels so that they can provide a better and improved customer service. If I were to believe their intentions, then I would have to disagree with you. I don't suppose CPQ is so naive as to take such an action that would jeopardize their own well being or would they????

Thanks Jim. I have been doing this type of analysis every quarter
since 93, and historically, I've been too conservative so you may
be (hopefully) correct.

I think by and large, the market of individual investors do have trouble distinguishing between Dell and CPQ's business model.
However, some of the bigger institutional players have a better
clue. Dell's stock is holding up pretty well under current market
conditions wouldn't you say?

Anyway, CPQ's channel story is unfolding and very interesting
to follow.

cheers
