A recently released study finds conservative Republicans paranoid, delusional, and living in an alternative reality. The study presents a picture of the GOP base as being motivated by a fundamentally different worldview than those in the middle or on the left.

According to the study conservative Republicans see the country as being under a dark and menacing threat. They believe the socialist charges made against President Obama. They believe Obama is part of some sinister conspiracy to destroy America.

The study, released by Democracy Corps, a consulting & polling group headed by James Carville reveals some interesting and disturbing insights about the Republican base:

"They believe Obama is ruthlessly advancing a 'secret agenda' to bankrupt the United States and dramatically expand government control to an extent nothing short of socialism."
