What products and examples are you referring to? Samsung failed because they rushed a poorly designed product to market from reports I have read.
Samsung, Pebble, Google Glass, etc. Note that by "fail" I'm not saying that the companies were mistaken to release them nor that they can't turn a profit from them. I mean that they failed to gain widespread adoption. Regardless of whether you think they rushed them to market or could be improved upon by Apple, a common piece of negative feedback is that they represent yet another device to carry around. If they *replaced* another device, it would be wildly different. I think that Google Glass, if a cell radio could be miniaturized enough to be on board, would be huge because it would truly free the user up. But a watch without a radio (or even with one, as it requires speaking through the air so others can hear you, or using yet another device - an earpiece) can make some functions more accessible but only by carrying the thing around on your wrist and paying for it.
