I think Samsung is going to struggle for a similar reason as Apple

Yes. It's because I think that phones similar to the Moto X will become more common.

I think "more common" is splitting hairs. The proliferation of substantially cheaper handsets with similar features has already happened. Yes, we will see more models and some decrease in pricing which is why I think that Apple's earnings decline after FY2015 without new product categories. However, to extrapolate a dramatic decline in near-term earnings is a reach since we already have seen these models in the market.

Basically, the inflection point in competitive offerings is already in earnings.
