You make it sound like this is a surprise to you.

Any number of brands command outrageous premiums. Apple is one of them. The iPhone 4 is a complete rip off based on its specs. OTOH, it does deliver outstanding build quality, design, and iOS. Whether that delivers value to you depends on the individual. I would wager that the satisfaction ratings on iPhone 4 buyers will be fairly good though.

Of course, Apple would have been much better off designing the 5C specifically for this market rather than simply restarting 4 production. We'll have to see if they take that path in the future.
